|I SAW THEM!!!
||[Jun. 8th, 2009|11:20 am]
we found a beautiful group of muscovies. lucked upon it really. pulled up and found about 15 of the little tail waggers wading in a retention pond. we hopped out with some cheerios, hoping to offer our bounty to the ducks. we were beaten to the punch however and it seemed obvious why the muscovies were hanging out here in such great numbers: they are being well fed by neighbors of the retention pond. there was tons of bread laid out for them. |
we were still able to coax a few to eat some cheerios as they swam in the shallows of the pond. as we stood around admiring these great duck specimens, more and more showed up to greet us. when we left there were 20 there!
we also saw two unfriendly mallards, one of which was all white with a small white plume on her head. they looked like a breeding pair.
we stuck around until it started to rain. i will definitely be back again!
if anyone wants to know where this magical muscovy pond is, let me know!
